TGIO
It was the "Most Inspiring Wrimo" award. Tina said it's because I caught the fever way early in October (am I the only one? I very much doubt it!), always had encouraging stuff to say to people (now I can't remember a single one.~_~), and managed to finish my fic on the last day on top of thesis (17k words in one day. NO. NEVER AGAIN.) When I told of how I had one of my characters fanboy Saiyuki just to get to 17k, I only got blank stares though...^^;;;
But, anyway, along with the plaque, I got--THE MUCH COVETED "WOODEN JOURNAL" from the Kick Off Party. Sure, all of us had been aiming at it without knowing what exactly we're supposed to do to get it, but I'm still a bit shocked that I got it. It's so beautiful.*_*
Talk about an early Christmas present. It's made in Italy and is so very handsome. Though because of that I'm not exactly sure what to do with it. All of my other "journals" so far had ended up just getting wasted due to my crappy handwriting. *shrug* I come from a family of doctors, hey. My sister suggested just handing it down the family line, like a family heirloom, 'til becomes an antique. Oh lulz.
But I digress. The party was seriously a lot of fun. My favorite part would have to be this short skit (theatre is my passion before writing, after all) of a couple fighting over text messages. The guy sent something that was meant to be a joke, and the girl didn't take it as one because there was no ü at the end. The guy reasons out that his phone doesn't have ü and the girl retorts he could have done something about it, like an open parenthesis with a semi-colon, or an open-parenthesis with a dash and a semi-colon! Furthermore, how was she supposed to take it as a joke when the entire message was in ALL CAPS. The guy reminds her for the nth time that his phone doesn't have the lower case function and that she should be used by now to all of his messages sounding angry.
She says that he should make his messages direct to the point, like she does. She calls him 'malabo' (vague) and it's his turn to rave. Malabo? He was malabo? It's she who sends strange messages. Like, when he was still courting her, she'd txt him "I love you". What's wrong with that? she asks. Isn't that direct? "I LAB you." She used to txt "I LAB you". He could never be sure if she was serious or not, maybe even just stringing him along so that he'd still give her her favorite pulvoron. Why not L-U-V or L-O-V-E? No, it had to be L-A-B. However did she get past high school with that kind of spelling? I-L-A-B-U--ikaw 'tong malabu! (You're the one who's vague!)
He then challenged her to give him even a single time that she had messaged him with I L-O-V-E YOU. She faltered and then said--yesterday! He just didn't receive the message. He scoffed and told her to stop it with the messages he didn't receive; she always used it to get out of arguments. Why couldn't she just reply to his messages? Because he sent so many! He says she doesn't have to reply to all of them but he hopes she'd reply to those with a question mark at the end. When he asks how she is, she could at least reply with a 'K'. Just a 'K' at least! She says she's busy with work and what was she supposed to reply to his Hi's and Hey's and Hello's anyway? But he doesn't send those with a question mark and did she think he went to work just to be a couch potato? Hour after hour he had something to do--did she want to see his daily planner? Uh...he had one, it just wasn't with him right now.
Maybe she doesn't reply because she wants him to realize she wanted him to stop doing it. She knew she had his business to think about, and maybe she didn't want him spending his money, wasting pre-paid credits on her? The guy goes emo. A waste? A waste? Was it a waste to check on her every now and then, show her how much he cared?
Fine. So she was wrong. She was insensitive. And...the skit kind of grows lame at this point with the girl turning suicidal and trying to kill herself--the guy keeping the scene light by grabbing her hand and saying she'll ruin the ballpen she was trying to kill herself with. Oh lulz. She asks, didn't he say he only wanted her happiness? Well, her death would make her happy so he should just give it to her. He says he loves her and wants her happiness, but he can't do that. If he did, he would be the source of his own sadnes...so Just do it yourself.xDDD Emo emo and skit ends with the two of them making up, of course. The guy kept on breaking the 4th wall, it was great!<333
There was also the story/poem of the unvampire, a young vampire who had lost his fangs when he tried to sink them into the "marble woman's" throat, his beloved. It included him having the idea of going to his dentist to have her shave him new fangs, except his mother said have you ever heard of a dentist who works at night? Oh, and that they had her for dinner for yesterday. It also had his mother getting so angry she broke their 'wooden' door and almost got staked, but he got in the way. As she cried over him however, he told her he knew they were vampires and that they died from wooden stakes, but he wouldn't die from a stake painted to look like wood. He had replaced their wooden door with polyutherane. Hilarious.xD
The event was inside U-View, which I originally thought was a street or something, but is actually the name of the room inside the basement of Fully Booked at Bonifacio High Street. Which would have to be the largest bookstore I've ever seen, with six(?) floors of books and music.*_* Much love! And the basement is filled with manga, graphic novels, etc., so I spent the cocktail part of the event poring through the pretty covers (Yaoi.<3).
A lot of other things happened, definitely a far cry from our Yellow Cab TGIO from last year (we had Talecraft sponsor us this year). We even had a couple of publishers talk to us, though it might be awhile before I can write something they'd be interested in (Chic Lit and Romance set in Fantasy, Sci-Fi, etc. [Not the other way around, which is what I'm doing]) and even longer before I get the guts to actually submit something. I had an amazing amount of fun...and am definitely going to do this again, next year!=D
