TGIO

Was fun. The travel was tiring but it was SO worth going to. My buddy-mates were all there: Ari, Sarah, Renz and Sele Renz <3 Sele. Sarah was MC so she didn't sit with us during the program, but that was probably just as well considering how noisy our group was. I didn't even hear what award I had gotten when my name was called out.^//^

It was the "Most Inspiring Wrimo" award. Tina said it's because I caught the fever way early in October (am I the only one? I very much doubt it!), always had encouraging stuff to say to people (now I can't remember a single one.~_~), and managed to finish my fic on the last day on top of thesis (17k words in one day. NO. NEVER AGAIN.) When I told of how I had one of my characters fanboy Saiyuki just to get to 17k, I only got blank stares though...^^;;;

But, anyway, along with the plaque, I got--THE MUCH COVETED "WOODEN JOURNAL" from the Kick Off Party. Sure, all of us had been aiming at it without knowing what exactly we're supposed to do to get it, but I'm still a bit shocked that I got it. It's so beautiful.*_*

Talk about an early Christmas present. It's made in Italy and is so very handsome. Though because of that I'm not exactly sure what to do with it. All of my other "journals" so far had ended up just getting wasted due to my crappy handwriting. *shrug* I come from a family of doctors, hey. My sister suggested just handing it down the family line, like a family heirloom, 'til becomes an antique. Oh lulz.

But I digress. The party was seriously a lot of fun. My favorite part would have to be this short skit (theatre is my passion before writing, after all) of a couple fighting over text messages. The guy sent something that was meant to be a joke, and the girl didn't take it as one because there was no ü at the end. The guy reasons out that his phone doesn't have ü and the girl retorts he could have done something about it, like an open parenthesis with a semi-colon, or an open-parenthesis with a dash and a semi-colon! Furthermore, how was she supposed to take it as a joke when the entire message was in ALL CAPS. The guy reminds her for the nth time that his phone doesn't have the lower case function and that she should be used by now to all of his messages sounding angry.

She says that he should make his messages direct to the point, like she does. She calls him 'malabo' (vague) and it's his turn to rave. Malabo? He was malabo? It's she who sends strange messages. Like, when he was still courting her, she'd txt him "I love you". What's wrong with that? she asks. Isn't that direct? "I LAB you." She used to txt "I LAB you". He could never be sure if she was serious or not, maybe even just stringing him along so that he'd still give her her favorite pulvoron. Why not L-U-V or L-O-V-E? No, it had to be L-A-B. However did she get past high school with that kind of spelling? I-L-A-B-U--ikaw 'tong malabu! (You're the one who's vague!)

He then challenged her to give him even a single time that she had messaged him with I L-O-V-E YOU. She faltered and then said--yesterday! He just didn't receive the message. He scoffed and told her to stop it with the messages he didn't receive; she always used it to get out of arguments. Why couldn't she just reply to his messages? Because he sent so many! He says she doesn't have to reply to all of them but he hopes she'd reply to those with a question mark at the end. When he asks how she is, she could at least reply with a 'K'. Just a 'K' at least! She says she's busy with work and what was she supposed to reply to his Hi's and Hey's and Hello's anyway? But he doesn't send those with a question mark and did she think he went to work just to be a couch potato? Hour after hour he had something to do--did she want to see his daily planner? Uh...he had one, it just wasn't with him right now.

Maybe she doesn't reply because she wants him to realize she wanted him to stop doing it. She knew she had his business to think about, and maybe she didn't want him spending his money, wasting pre-paid credits on her? The guy goes emo. A waste? A waste? Was it a waste to check on her every now and then, show her how much he cared?

Fine. So she was wrong. She was insensitive. And...the skit kind of grows lame at this point with the girl turning suicidal and trying to kill herself--the guy keeping the scene light by grabbing her hand and saying she'll ruin the ballpen she was trying to kill herself with. Oh lulz. She asks, didn't he say he only wanted her happiness? Well, her death would make her happy so he should just give it to her. He says he loves her and wants her happiness, but he can't do that. If he did, he would be the source of his own sadnes...so Just do it yourself.xDDD Emo emo and skit ends with the two of them making up, of course. The guy kept on breaking the 4th wall, it was great!<333

There was also the story/poem of the unvampire, a young vampire who had lost his fangs when he tried to sink them into the "marble woman's" throat, his beloved. It included him having the idea of going to his dentist to have her shave him new fangs, except his mother said have you ever heard of a dentist who works at night? Oh, and that they had her for dinner for yesterday. It also had his mother getting so angry she broke their 'wooden' door and almost got staked, but he got in the way. As she cried over him however, he told her he knew they were vampires and that they died from wooden stakes, but he wouldn't die from a stake painted to look like wood. He had replaced their wooden door with polyutherane. Hilarious.xD

The event was inside U-View, which I originally thought was a street or something, but is actually the name of the room inside the basement of Fully Booked at Bonifacio High Street. Which would have to be the largest bookstore I've ever seen, with six(?) floors of books and music.*_* Much love! And the basement is filled with manga, graphic novels, etc., so I spent the cocktail part of the event poring through the pretty covers (Yaoi.<3).

A lot of other things happened, definitely a far cry from our Yellow Cab TGIO from last year (we had Talecraft sponsor us this year). We even had a couple of publishers talk to us, though it might be awhile before I can write something they'd be interested in (Chic Lit and Romance set in Fantasy, Sci-Fi, etc. [Not the other way around, which is what I'm doing]) and even longer before I get the guts to actually submit something. I had an amazing amount of fun...and am definitely going to do this again, next year!=D

NaNo 2008 - WIN

Amazing Crazy, I know.

Quoted from xcerpted's post at Regional Forum's Winners' Thread:

17k in one day. NEVER AGAIN. I had to do so much crappy writing I'll need to delete upon editing--and you know how it is much easier to write about something you love? In a moment of desperation, I had one of my characters find his best friend's fanfiction notebook, get caught, and be told of Hakkai's, Sanzo's, Gojyo's and Goku's past. In how many words? 11k.

That's 1/5 of my novel I'll have to edit out.T_T

Distractions

As if I'm not waaaaaaaaaay behind on my word count (27k) and can't have a hold on myself (aka self-discipline), we had to get DSL today.

Write-In

I was going to go, but I found something out last night that upset me (forcing me to back out of the word war as well) and decided to turn in early. Even so, I woke up at 11am today (that's 11 hours of sleep!) and have been sleepy all day. Thus, no write-in and no actual output.

Dear Me, wake up and write?

Second Word War and NaNo2008 Characters

Mom was bitching a little, then nephew came and said he needed a pair of white pants--right on the following day. At 9:30 in the evening. Had to dig through my cosplay chest to look for white pants and they didn't even fit him. The usual disconnect-reconnect routine (I can't resist). Kept looking at my cellphone. Hello, second word war.

Finished with 1675 and was not really happy about it (got 1670 in the first). But, wonder of wonders, I made it to third place! Jeez.>_>

Anyway--

My NaNo 2008 (No Title Yet) Characters

Celestia - the princess of Veriah. A prophecy was made upon her birth that she would be the key to the fall of the kingdom and her father sent her away to the far kingdom of Lorentia to appease the members of the royal court.

Sefhyr - the Apostate. His father and brothers and half-brothers all betrayed the kingdom in one form or another. Seeking to reclaim his family's honor, Sefhyr was given 9 tasks to do so. The seventh task entails going to Lorentia and returning to Veriah with the Princess Celestia.

Jaylee
- Jay. In the kingdom of Veriah, magic only appears within the royal court. Once in a few decades however, a powerful mystic is born among the commoners. Believing this to be bad luck, such children are killed as soon as they are discovered. Irene's family ran away from the kingdom to keep her alive, but was then caught by bandits. Sefhyr saved her from them and renamed her "Jaylee". She has always been by his side since then, treated as a tool and weapon but never once finding the need to complain.

Lawrencio - a knight from Veriah carrying the same task as Sefhyr, to come for and return with the Princess Celestia.

Kyriel - Lawrencio's childhood friend and an apprentice castle healer in Lorentia.

My first Word War!

Joined the Word War today. I didn't win, of course, but it certainly helped my word count. Definitely joining future ones that I can.

- synch with Tina's time before the start of the war. Set alarm on cellphone  for end time so I don't have to keep checking back into chat...
-...which I really might as well close because every time I get dc'd and try to go back, it eats writing time. And this happens A LOT.
-Need to find an alternative to cellphoene alarm. I tend to check the time and end up checking messages too...and especially bad ones are distracting (and disheartening)
-JUST KEEP WRITING!

No Shounen Ai?!

Help! I'm suddenly stuck 'cause I realized I don't know how to insert boy love into this thing!!

*is shot*

So, yeah, my novel's (finally) been started. I need to write at least 2k everyday in order to win (I think). Started yesterday and I'm at 3127 words now, with 4k as my target for the day. Novel details when I get stuck again or have a pretty good word count.

Writing on...

Quantity over Quality

*hums* Will I end up posting here everyday? I should have signed this LJ up for NaBloPoMo or something!

So far, NaNo Rebelling is NOT working. We should be at 5001 words today (uh, right?) and I can't even start because I haven't finished my first YS prompt and am too embarrassed to ask for a second one (I had two prompts last year and barely finished the first!). Even if I count the number of words I've written for my first prompt in November, it'll only add up to around four, five hundred. Augh!

Second reason this ain't gonna work: I'm currently writing a RANDOM SCENE THAT THE FIC CAN DO WITHOUT in my first prompt. Hello the Idon'tcarewecancutthoseoffandeditafternovember NaNo-spirit? I can't have it for these fics--they'll be gifted. 'Course I can fall back to my beta...but I don't want to give them too much work.DX

So--shall I start on my novel already? I've already drafted out the character profiles even. The last time I went against THE COIN though, I had to pay 60php for late book return and got very sick (decided to stay at the mall instead of dropping the book to sch**l and going home to rest)...

Hmm...

NaNo Rebel?

I thought of becoming a NaNo Rebel this year-- instead of writing a novel, I'll give my heart and soul to
[info]yuletide_smutand write prompt after prompt and hope to reach 50,000 words by the end of the month. It'll be like hitting two birds with one stone and it's not really against the rules...I think. But it sort of beats the point of NaNoWriMo but then again, that's the point of being a rebel, isn't it? Hmm...

...Well, toss coin says I should do it, and I did it twice--best of five each. But first, I have to finish my current prompt. I started it before November so I shouldn't include it in my word count I don't think, but I better hurry up....

I wonder if I'll be the first ever rebel among PinoyWrimos? I hope I don't become an outcast because of this. *swallows thickly*

NaNoWriMo 2008 begins!

And of course I still don't have a working plot. Everyone is writing and here I am still stalling. Was at the first PinoyWrimo night chat for 2008 last night and stayed up well past 4am, but still nothing. I'm sorely tempted to go with the Deus Noir plot--a live manga project we had a couple of years ago. It's irking me I can't remember some of the characters' names though (including my own!!) and it's not really meant to be written as a novel, different POVs and visuals/eyecandy instead of text/speech and such. But, quantity over quality, right? Hmm...

Still, it's going to be a bitch writing something I don't know how to write, even if I do have a plot premise for it.DX

Memories - 11.11.2007

Coupled with a crappy sch**l-centered lifestyle, I'm stuck in my novel and having a hard time continuing it. RO!twin told me it was okay to write future parts first, something our seminar speaker last Saturday, Sir Dean Alfar backed up during his lecture. I originally didn't want to, because I'm one of those writers who don't have sequenced plots yet and I might end up not being able to lead the plot into any future part I might write, but then I realized last night that there are parts which will not change no matter what I do in the main plot-- the memories in the Sonnetteer of Memory. I also realized these were easier to write--probably because they're set in Asiyah or, as we commonly know it, Earth?^^;;

Gah. I've written too much and have wasted far too much time here. With no further ado, I give you what memories I have written so far.=)

Chapter 2 (Part 1) - 11.11.2007

Chapter Two: Kyriel

“Have you eaten yet?” Hazel asked just to fill in the silence that followed Kyriel’s obvious observation. It was a safe question, he decided, because they both knew it would make no difference to him whether Kyriel had already dined or not. Hazel did not eat, just as no other returned angel did. By some divine grand design or another, food stuff disappeared as it entered their throat after they swallow. Their bodies did not require nutrition anyway, all celestial beings did not, but it was they, the returned, who did not experience hunger. It was a part of them, a temptation to sin, that they had left in their now dead, cold and empty mortal shells in the world Below.

“Uh, yes,” Kyriel replied, hesitating, and then sitting down next to him. He then seemed to be extremely interested with the petals of the blooms he had picked. In this distance, and with their sheer number, Hazel’s nose was able to pick up their scent. They smelled almost exactly the same as the roses in Asiyah; they did not smell very sweet at all.

Wait. That was certainly…odd. Why would Hazel remember how Asiyah flowers look? Or smell? The only vision he had had so far in his re-collection was that of his death, and he was pretty sure there had been no rose plants around in the area at that time.

Chapter 1 (Part 2) - 11.10.2007

“Watch what you’re saying,” Hazel snapped, considering his success at staying his hand a minor miracle. Slipping out from underneath his blanket, he hastily pulled on the pair of light trousers and the shirt that were waiting for him on the chair beside Kyriel’s. The clothes were warm and soft to the touch, but not as soft and warm as the sonneteer. Hazel could practically still feel it where it had been over his skin and eyes, warm and velvety, almost comforting. He could only hope his future re-collections were more pleasant and would actually fit the sensation better.

Hazel waved the apologies away before Kyriel could even open his mouth to say them. He was about to leave the room but turned around suddenly, pinning the younger angel with a look. “Don’t speak a word of this to anyone, you hear?” he asked, no, commanded him. Kyriel nodded without a word and Hazel left the room, stunned into silence as well by how harsh his voice had sounded.

When next they met, Kyriel acted as if they had not parted in ill circumstances. Hazel had gone to the gardens right after, to think, knowing he would be alone for at least a few hours, but had fallen asleep on one of its stone benches. When he woke up, a blanket had been laid over him as if he was a mortal who could get sick just by being exposed to the elements, and even though it was only ever pleasantly cool in Yetsirah. Kyriel stood about half a dozen yards away from him, bending over what would be thought of as a rosebush in Asiyah, except the flowers were colored in shades of blue and purple. He seemed completely oblivious to the fact that the other had already woken up.

Chapter 1 (Part 1) - 11.06.2007

Chapter 1: The Sonneteer of Memory

A person houses only one of three things: an angel, a demon, or a human spirit. Human spirits either go to hell or the lower levels of heaven when the host body dies. Their paths depend solely on the works they did in life, because a human spirit is created only when a human is born. Angels, on the other hand, were created by God a long time ago. Demons are what the fallen angels are called, those who went with Lucifer to rebel against God. That was the instance in time when they made their choice, and they and all their descendants are forever bound to being an angel or a demon. It is a given that angels who become mortals do good works in their lifetime, while demons do evil. There is no judgment for them; they merely return to their sides upon death.

For angels, it is imperative that they experience human life in order to be "complete". Angels who have not gone to the world Below, the mortal world of Asiyah, are pure and innocent, but they do not know how to love. The angels do not know why this is so, but the Creator had decreed it, and so it had to be.

2007 NaNoWriMo Plot Notes

Cross-posted to Spill Your Plot @ NaNoWriMo forums:

No Title as of yet. I don't even know what genre I should place it in.x_X I came up with the topic on Nov. 1 (totally random, after extensively discussing three other plot bunnies) with a friend, and some bits of the 'plot' (lack thereof...) yesterday:

"What if I just go crazy and write something random without a planned plot, like angels and a war in heaven and stuff?" (my famous last words...)

A person houses only one of three things: an angel, a demon, or a human spirit. Human spirits either go to hell or the lower levels of heaven when the host body dies. Their path depends solely on the works they did in life, because a human spirit is created only when a human is born.
